NSW: Film and TV complex set to go ahead in Sutherland Shire
A film and television studio complex featuring the largest sound stage in Australialooks set to be built in southern Sydney.
Sutherland Shire Council has issued conditional consent for the construction of thecomplex at Serenity Cove, Kurnell, in Sydney's south.
The complex will include four film studios, four television studios, car parking andloading areas and landscaping works, including a wetland and pond system.
Sutherland Shire Mayor PHIL BLIGHT says the facility is expected to create 300 regularjobs, swelling to more than 1,000 when a movie is being shot.
The project was given the go-ahead with conditions requiring previously contaminatedland be reformed and the protection of Aboriginal archaeology sites prior to construction.
